Kerryn Burgoyne

“I’m passionate about using autism awareness to empower others”

About Kerryn

Growing up in the 1970s and 80s, Kerryn and the people around her had very little understanding of what is now known as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). When her family spoke to specialists about her symptoms, they were told they were overanxious and that Kerryn would ‘grow out of it’. When Kerryn was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome at 30 years old, she began learning about her condition. Today she is a passionate ASD advocate, sharing her story with the world.

Since her diagnosis, she has learned social, communication and behavioural strategies that have contributed to her ability to live independently. This has led to a greater understanding of herself and a sense of belonging in her community. In 2007, Kerryn started her own business, KTalk, to promote autism awareness. She has developed six self-help course books.

Kerryn has presented for organisations including Empower Autism and Speakers Bank and has completed the Leadership Plus course. She regularly travels throughout Victoria and interstate to speak at events, including the recent Spectrum Space Symposium in Perth, and the Walking Side by Side Conference in Launceston. In 2024 she presented online to events based in France and Indonesia.
